Washington DC Technology Firm Volanno Wins Cup of Hope with Record-Breaking Fundraising at 2024 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

Volanno, a transportation-focused Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) in Washington, DC’s vibrant Brookland neighborhood, has once again demonstrated its leadership and commitment to community causes. Volanno proudly claimed the prestigious Cup of Hope by raising an impressive $36,365 for the 2024 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. This marked the third year of participation with Dawn Amore, President and CEO of Volanno, being recognized as the Top Individual fundraiser. This year alone, Dawn personally raised over $18,000, contributing to a three-year total of $93,788, in collaboration with four Team Captains: Andrea White, Alice Dobrin, Piper Holloway, and Joe Slessinger, which helped secure Cup of Hope for Volanno.

Volanno has raised the bar for what it takes to win the Cup of Hope, inspiring others to step up their contributions. This year’s Making Strides event, presented by DC’s Office of Paid Family Leave, and raised over $500,000, directly benefiting cancer research and patient services through the American Cancer Society (ACS). Volanno is proud to continue to support Making Strides Against Breast Cancer because it goes beyond fundraising—it fosters hope, resilience, and a united front against cancer.

As a breast cancer survivor, Dawn Amore brings a personal commitment to the cause. Since being diagnosed in 2019, she reflects on her journey, emphasizing the impact of community support during treatment and recovery. Under her inspiring leadership, Volanno has set new fundraising records, driving critical research and providing essential support for patients. Embracing the 2024 theme, “All Aboard for a Cure,” Team Volanno leveraged its transportation expertise to propel efforts toward a world without breast cancer. Dawn said, “This year’s achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team and our commitment to creating a meaningful impact for those affected by this disease.” As breast cancer continues to affect millions across the country, Volanno remains dedicated in its mission to create a future free of this disease and serves as a leader in both industry and community impact. With the company already set to participate in the 2025 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser and walk this October, it will be exciting to see how they build on their momentum and continue to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer.
