Volanno’s CEO Recognized as Top Fundraiser for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Event in Washington, DC, Second Year Running
Washington, DC - Volanno, a DC-based intelligent transportation company, is proud to share that for the second consecutive year, our CEO, Dawn Amore, has been named the top fundraiser in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Washington, DC. As a dedicated advocate and breast cancer survivor, Amore individually raised a total of $14,861 for this year’s walk. She has also led Team Volanno to raise a remarkable two-year total of $57,423 to support American Cancer Society (ACS).
This achievement is especially poignant for Amore, who faced her diagnosis head-on in 2019. “Having experienced firsthand the journey through treatment and recovery, I am committed to giving back and supporting individuals who are suffering though this disease,” said Amore. Her personal fight against breast cancer fuels her dedication to this cause, further ignited by the loss of a close family friend to brain cancer in July 2022.
Team Volanno, empowered by their leader’s passion and the collective drive of its team members and donors, participated with thousands of others at the Tidal Basin event on October 14, helping ACS beat its fundraising goal and raising more than $415,000. These crucial funds channel into groundbreaking cancer research, patient care services, and other essential support provided by ACS.
“We are immensely proud of our team’s efforts, led by Dawn’s unwavering spirit and tenacity,” stated a spokesperson for Volanno. “Her leadership transcends her role at Volanno, inspiring change and hope in wider community circles. We stand in solidarity with every individual impacted by breast cancer and are committed to harnessing our collective power to make a significant impact.”
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event underscores the importance of community and support systems in fighting not just breast cancer but every form of this disease. With breast cancer remaining one of the most prevalent cancers in the U.S., initiatives like these are vital. Volanno is honored to contribute to this movement, embodying the ethos that together, we can create a world free from the fear of cancer.
